Description

The demi-Gods settled into their mountain seats and looked for a second time onto Claresholm, Alberta. Suspicions stirred, questions hung in the air, and connections formed in the first battle. How long before the Belial’s plan was unearthed? How long before the Children recognized their ancient worth? How long before the humans realized their role as part of a drama that started millennia ago? Who knew? For even though the demi-Gods, under strict instruction from the Creator, had set the plan in place so many galactic years before, not even they knew the exact details of how it would fall into place or how it would end. Therein lay the choices of the players, the Laws of Grace. So they watched the career-driven lawyer, her friend the dark-haired librarian, the violent ex-husband and the honour-driven cops as they played out the next act and wondered, once again, if they had erred when they chose not to give good an edge over evil.

About the author

Contributor Notes

Marlene was so very talented in many areas. Her family was her priority, and being with her children and grandchildren gave her much joy. Her brilliant smile came so easily when she talked about them. She was a steadfast friend, a good listener, able to provide a different perspective and always ready for a fresh adventure and some laughs. Once she formed a friendship with you, you knew she had your back - through thick or thin.

Professionally, she was a teacher among teachers. She pushed her students but treated them with respect and kindness. In return, the students worked hard and respected her. She was ready for a little humour and fun in her classes, coming up with new and improved lesson plans to suit her students. Marlene was an avid runner - determined to improve, as she pushed herself to new levels, including marathons.

She was a very spiritual person, exploring new ways of understanding life. She enjoyed travelling after her children were grown and spending time in new places. Although it is difficult to describe all that made her such a beautiful person, those of us who were privileged to be part of her life remember her with respect, admiration and love.

This trilogy is evidence of Marlene’s inquisitive mind and enduring spirit; her positive, lasting tribute to hope.

Excerpt: Trust (by (author) Marlene Frere)

Lynda Callaway was lying in bed, trying to practice some of the skills that Keara had been teaching her. It was a big deal because Lynda wasn’t that brave, but time away from that no good ex-husband Zack had her gaining some confidence, tuning into her intuitive side and trying new things. But, somewhere along her flight path, she had been seriously rerouted. This whole astral travel stuff had been a stretch at the best of times, but she’d thought trying it when no one else could see her fail had some advantages. She’d envisioned a tropical beach, breathing in the salty smell of the ocean and enjoying the caress of a cool breeze on her sun-warmed skin while curling her toes in sugar-white sand. She had intended all of that, but at the last second, she’d amended her plan, added in serious male eye candy to the hot and humid setting. The location she’d left up to chance. Big mistake. Didn’t she know better? Hadn’t she learned from past experiences? Every time she tried the wing it routine, she blundered. The “who needed a recipe” cake always fell flat, and the random movie was always a total bust. The Las Vegas marriage to Zack was or had been a catastrophic mistake. The impish urge to wing it had disappeared since that colossal and painful error. Well, that was until this morning, bright and early at five a.m., while she was lying awake in her bed. The impulse to try astral travel exercises had her jumping into another fun experiment. Fun, her lips curved upwards. Who didn’t need more of that in their life? She sighed. Maybe she could have been a bit more careful in search of that fun. Okay, a lot more careful. Her stomach tightened as she peered through the mist of her vision. Had she arrived in a palm tree-studded tropical paradise? Had she landed on a beach beside some drool-worthy man? Nope. But she had found a man reflected in a steamy mirror.
